Panic

This post is written in response to a writing prompt from Mama Kat at Mama Kat's Losin' It! The prompt was 3.) Your first panic attack.

I have a panic disorder, so as you can expect, I have had many a panic attack over the years. Though the first one that I can clearly remember was when I was 8, turning 9. My family was moving across the country from Columbus, OH to St. Louis, MO. We were visiting St. Louis while house hunting, and it was over my birthday. While we were there, my parents decided to do a little site seeing. So, we went to the St. Louis Arch. The whole way down there from our hotel, they kept telling my little sister and I that we were "Going up the Arch". No real description other than that. Well, my sister and I took that as "We are climbing up the outside of the Arch." Then they started telling us how tall it was, and that you could probably feel the Arch swaying in the wind. Mind you, this is December, on the river. So, my sister and I started freaking out. I was majorly freaking out. I started hyperventilating, my vision started to go gray, I was shaking, I was crying. The world was going to end if they made me climb the outside of the Arch as I was picturing. In my head, we were climbing up a HUGE ladder on the outside of an arch, and we were going to be blown off to go flying to the ground. I do believe I ended up yelling at my parents that I didn't want to climb the Arch, I wanted to wait at the bottom.

Once they realized why my sister and I were panicking they calmed us down, and through our tears explained to us, that no, we were going up in a little bitty elevator INSIDE of the Arch, not climbing the outside we calmed down some. My racing heart slowed, my vision returned to normal, the tears and screaming stopped. But, truly, that was not my last experience with panic. I have one, at least a minor one at least once a week. Some day, after much work, I hope to overcome these horrible things.

First Day of School

Well, yesterday was Aiden's first day of school for the 2011-2012 school year. He had a new teacher for the first time in 2 years. He had Ms. Powell for the past 2 years, and did very well with her, but this year, he has a new teacher, Ms. Ferguson. She is also new to the school, so no one was able to tell me what she is like. It will be a learning experience for both Aiden and I. He said he had a great day, and he came home with stamps on his hand and a kitty nose and whiskers drawn on his face. He is very excited to go back today, and, horribly I am excited for him to go back as well. Not for the well meaning reasons a good parent would, no, for the fact that I can nap while he is at school. Since little Miss Maycee has been keeping me up nights. She has gotten into a sleep pattern where she will sleep for like 3 or 4 hours at night, then she is up from 3 am until about 8 am. So, that is all the sleep I get at night. With Aiden back in school, I don't have to stay up all day and I can nap in the afternoon while he is gone and Maycee is napping too. Ah, the wonders of having a school aged child! Hope everyone has a good day!

Down the Aisle- My Favorite Wedding Moment

So, this post is for Mommy of a Monster & Twins recent link up. She wants people to post about their favorite picture from their wedding. I don't honestly know who took this picture of Jeremy and I, but it is truly my favorite moment from our wedding. I don't remember exactly when it was taken, or what we were laughing about. But, it sums up our relationship and what I love about this man soo much. He makes me laugh. At myself, at the situations we are in, and at life in general. We have laughed through so much together, both horrible and great. And this picture will always be a favorite of us for me.

OK, so its been a LONG time...

Alright, I know its been a long time since there has been a post here, and a lot has happened since the last post. I feel its time to start up again. Since the last post, Jeremy has been on a deployment, we welcomed Maycee into our family, and we adopted another dog named Monkey. Now school is about to start again. So, that is the quick recap on things to get you up to date. From here on out I will try to keep things more current.

Happy News

I know it's been a long time since I've posted, but we've been pretty busy since Aiden got out of school in May...We have been camping, and we have been fishing, and we have been to the pool, and lots of activities here on base. But biggest of all we found out we are expecting another baby!! We are due on Feb. 15, 2011. We are all very excited, even Aiden. He is excited to be a "big broher", he wants to have a "sister baby". We are all hoping for a girl, but we will take whatever God decides to bless us with, as long as it is healthy and hopefully this time full term. We will be doing everything in our power to keep me pregnant the whole time. Though, we did get some other news, Jeremy will be deploying on Sept. 13 to Al Udeid, and will be back in January. Just in time for the baby to be born. Other than that life has just been about keeping Aiden busy. Here are a few pics of him to tide people over til the next post, which should be more often now that I am pregnant, I will be posting to update people on what is going on.
Here is Aiden at his first Dance Recital, isn't he adorable, the only boy with all those girls...

And here he is on his first camping trip, he loved it, especially being inside the tent, he thought that was great fun....
This is from Memorial Day weekend, we had some friends over and put out the slip and slide for the kids, they had a blast....
Then we went later that night to the local cemetary and pulled up all the flags and crosses from all the military plots, Aiden was so proud of himself for helping, and we were so proud of him for being such a big boy...

Aiden's School Pictures

As promised, here are the pictures we got from Aiden's school. One is his individual school picture, and the other is his class picture. I am sure you can figure out which is which....So, there you go, my handsome little boy in his first school pictures looking as dapper as can be :). Don't you just love it when the smile big for pictures?

It's Been a While

It's been quite a while since I posted. Valentine's Day was a long time ago, we are well into March now. Aiden had his first school pictures taken and we got them back. They turned out adorable, as usual with him. He is doing GREAT in his dance class, and he gets a chance to actually perform for the first time on the same day as the March of Dimes : March for Babies. It will be literally immediately after the walk. We will have to leave right after we are done walking to get to the recital in time. He is also doing very well in school. We had our first Parent Teacher Conference at the beginning of the month. His teacher said that coming from where he started when he joined the class, and given that he had only been there for 3 months at the time, he had made HUGE strides in his progress. She was very proud of how far he had come. And so are we, he went from not talking and just babbling, to speaking in sentences. Sometimes the words aren't clear, but he will speak in 5 to 6 word sentences. That is a GIGANTIC difference from where he started. He will also engage other children in play, where as before he would just stand and watch what they were doing. So, Aiden is doing really well. Jeremy is doing pretty well, his back is giving him trouble a lot again. And he is working pretty much all the time, 12 hour shifts during the week, and 8 to 4 on Saturdays and Sundays again, so we don't get much time together right now, but it is only for a little while, and it will be over quickly enough, and back to normal hours again eventually. Tonight we are going to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D and leaving Aiden with some friends of ours so we get some alone time. I can't wait for that! I am getting pretty busy myself. I am currently in charge of our squadrons Spouses Club, which is just getting started up. I am also the team captain of our family team for March of Dimes: March for Babies, which is really a difficult thing to do, let me tell you. I am having trouble recruiting members for the team and getting donations for the team too. So, if anyone out there actually reads this...besides Katie Turnure, who has already made a donation...could you either join the team and walk with us, or make a donation to our team... Here is the link to go to to make a donation or join the team it works for both. I am also in the McConnell Players here on base, the bases theatre group, and we are putting on a variety show called "Totally '80's: Like Gag Me With a Spoon". Its going to be great, it will be the 7th and 8th of May if anyone would like to come out and see me sing and dance in it. I will be singing "Hey Mickey" and dancing "Thriller". It should be a riot. Aside from all of that, I have been just being Aiden's mom which is a full time job in and of itself. Which I love every minute of. So, that is our life right now....I will post pictures of Aiden's school pictures later on today or tomorrow for all to see...til then, enjoy folks.
