Panic

This post is written in response to a writing prompt from Mama Kat at Mama Kat's Losin' It! The prompt was 3.) Your first panic attack.

I have a panic disorder, so as you can expect, I have had many a panic attack over the years. Though the first one that I can clearly remember was when I was 8, turning 9. My family was moving across the country from Columbus, OH to St. Louis, MO. We were visiting St. Louis while house hunting, and it was over my birthday. While we were there, my parents decided to do a little site seeing. So, we went to the St. Louis Arch. The whole way down there from our hotel, they kept telling my little sister and I that we were "Going up the Arch". No real description other than that. Well, my sister and I took that as "We are climbing up the outside of the Arch." Then they started telling us how tall it was, and that you could probably feel the Arch swaying in the wind. Mind you, this is December, on the river. So, my sister and I started freaking out. I was majorly freaking out. I started hyperventilating, my vision started to go gray, I was shaking, I was crying. The world was going to end if they made me climb the outside of the Arch as I was picturing. In my head, we were climbing up a HUGE ladder on the outside of an arch, and we were going to be blown off to go flying to the ground. I do believe I ended up yelling at my parents that I didn't want to climb the Arch, I wanted to wait at the bottom.

Once they realized why my sister and I were panicking they calmed us down, and through our tears explained to us, that no, we were going up in a little bitty elevator INSIDE of the Arch, not climbing the outside we calmed down some. My racing heart slowed, my vision returned to normal, the tears and screaming stopped. But, truly, that was not my last experience with panic. I have one, at least a minor one at least once a week. Some day, after much work, I hope to overcome these horrible things.

First Day of School

Well, yesterday was Aiden's first day of school for the 2011-2012 school year. He had a new teacher for the first time in 2 years. He had Ms. Powell for the past 2 years, and did very well with her, but this year, he has a new teacher, Ms. Ferguson. She is also new to the school, so no one was able to tell me what she is like. It will be a learning experience for both Aiden and I. He said he had a great day, and he came home with stamps on his hand and a kitty nose and whiskers drawn on his face. He is very excited to go back today, and, horribly I am excited for him to go back as well. Not for the well meaning reasons a good parent would, no, for the fact that I can nap while he is at school. Since little Miss Maycee has been keeping me up nights. She has gotten into a sleep pattern where she will sleep for like 3 or 4 hours at night, then she is up from 3 am until about 8 am. So, that is all the sleep I get at night. With Aiden back in school, I don't have to stay up all day and I can nap in the afternoon while he is gone and Maycee is napping too. Ah, the wonders of having a school aged child! Hope everyone has a good day!

Down the Aisle- My Favorite Wedding Moment

So, this post is for Mommy of a Monster & Twins recent link up. She wants people to post about their favorite picture from their wedding. I don't honestly know who took this picture of Jeremy and I, but it is truly my favorite moment from our wedding. I don't remember exactly when it was taken, or what we were laughing about. But, it sums up our relationship and what I love about this man soo much. He makes me laugh. At myself, at the situations we are in, and at life in general. We have laughed through so much together, both horrible and great. And this picture will always be a favorite of us for me.

OK, so its been a LONG time...

Alright, I know its been a long time since there has been a post here, and a lot has happened since the last post. I feel its time to start up again. Since the last post, Jeremy has been on a deployment, we welcomed Maycee into our family, and we adopted another dog named Monkey. Now school is about to start again. So, that is the quick recap on things to get you up to date. From here on out I will try to keep things more current.
